About the Role
This position sits within Taobao Tmall World, an initiative designed to make shopping on Taobao and Tmall easier for Chinese consumers living outside mainland China. The platform gives shoppers access to billions of products through the Taobao app, supported by localized logistics, payment options, and services that are adapted to the needs of each market. Core buyer markets include Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Macao (China), Singapore, Malaysia, and additional regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep a strong working knowledge of the e-commerce landscape in Singapore and Thailand, including market shifts, competitor activity, customer demand, and consumer behavior.
- Use a consumer-first mindset and local audience personas to understand different shopper segments, anticipate trends, and recognize culturally important events. Combine category supply with marketing efforts to support major sales events and campaigns while owning the key performance results.
- Build and refine product assortments using local supply strengths, and continuously improve important category channels to raise engagement, click-through performance, conversion, and transaction efficiency.
- Understand Taobao’s category supply structure, major brand lineup, and best-selling products, and translate those supply strengths into clear alignment with local market needs.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of relevant experience, with strong knowledge of the Southeast Asian e-commerce market. Experience in industry operations is preferred, along with strong consumer understanding, market analysis ability, and capability in category planning and merchandising.
- Strong ability to work with data and communicate clearly, using evidence-based judgment to identify business gaps and recommend practical solutions.
- Good collaboration skills and adaptability, with the ability to work effectively across platform teams and coordinate both internal and external stakeholders. The role requires a driven, goal-focused person who can execute reliably, learn quickly, stay positive, and handle pressure well.
- Professional fluency in both Chinese and English, including strong spoken and written communication in both languages.
