Role overview

An opportunity is available for a commercially minded and data-focused Category Manager to join a full-time, on-site team in the United Arab Emirates. This mid to senior level role is centered on building and delivering category plans that grow sales, strengthen margins, and improve the customer experience. The position involves working across suppliers, sales, marketing, procurement, and operations to improve product ranges, pricing, promotions, and overall category results.

What you will do

  • Create and roll out category plans that support business goals and respond to market opportunities.
  • Oversee product mix decisions, pricing approaches, promotional activity, and category performance.
  • Study sales patterns, market intelligence, customer behavior, and competitor moves to uncover growth areas.
  • Develop productive relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Handle commercial negotiations with suppliers to improve terms and lift profitability.
  • Watch stock levels, product availability, and forecasted demand to keep categories performing well.
  • Partner with marketing teams on campaigns and category growth initiatives.
  • Monitor KPIs and prepare performance updates for management.
  • Spot opportunities for new products, improved ranges, and broader assortment planning.
  • Make sure category plans stay aligned with customer demand, company objectives, and current market direction.
  • Lead improvement efforts that increase revenue, margin, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, Economics, or a similar discipline.
  • Background in category management, product management, procurement, merchandising, or retail operations.
  • Strong analytical ability, including comfort with sales data, market trends, and financial indicators.
  • Good negotiation skills, with the ability to manage suppliers and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Solid commercial judgement and understanding of pricing, margin, and profitability drivers.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel and exposure to ERP, retail, procurement, or category management tools.
  • Clear communication, confident presentation skills, and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Capacity to handle several priorities and projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience in FMCG, retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, or similar sectors is a plus.
