Job description
Role Overview
The Category Manager Assistant will work alongside the Category Manager to help run category plans for a grocery e-commerce dark store. The role centers on assortment planning, pricing, promotions, stock control, and product availability, while using market insights and data to improve category results and match customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Help put category strategies into action so sales, assortment quality, and market position improve.
- Support product range decisions, lifecycle handling, and online merchandising so products are presented effectively on the platform.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors, support ordering activities, and help ensure deliveries arrive on time to keep stock healthy.
- Assist with pricing initiatives and promotional activity aimed at increasing sales and strengthening category margins.
- Track inventory levels and work with supply chain colleagues to reduce the risk of stock shortages or excess stock.
- Research the market and competitors to spot trends, customer preferences, and opportunities to expand the category.
- Review sales performance, analyze key metrics, and prepare reports that inform decisions and strategy updates.
- Partner with marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to keep products available, promotions on schedule, and the customer experience smooth.
- Maintain accurate and appealing product information, including descriptions, images, and specifications, on the e-commerce platform.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain management, or a closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or retail operations, ideally within grocery or e-commerce.
- Working knowledge of supplier coordination and inventory management.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint, along with data analysis tools.
- Experience using e-commerce platforms and inventory systems is an advantage.
- Clear spoken and written communication skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, collaborative team environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, analytical, and able to solve problems independently.
