About the Role
Join a community-focused, locally owned store specializing in health, beauty, and convenience retail services where the customer remains your primary focus. As the Cashier Manager, you will oversee and coordinate all elements of the Cash Department including human, physical, and financial resources, while collaborating with other departments to meet overall store goals and uphold excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example to ensure cashier staff live by and represent company CORE Values
- Manage recruitment process by interviewing and finalizing hiring decisions for cashiers
- Ensure compliance of cashier team with all store policies and standards
- Organize staff scheduling including work hours, days off, and vacation times within guidelines
- Provide training, ongoing coaching, and support for cashier team member development
- Partner with store management to assist in cashier performance reviews
- Guarantee exceptional customer interactions exceeding expectations
- Maintain uniform and professional image standards among cashier employees
- Encourage use of the PC Optimum card during each transaction and promote related initiatives and fundraising efforts
- Oversee promotions and offers related to cash department activities and ensure awareness of weekly promotional details
- Manage lottery ticket display and handling ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
- Handle clerical and banking tasks including coin order management and discrepancy resolution
- Maintain and safeguard cash office and safe according to store policies
- Monitor and report cash variances weekly, investigating discrepancies
- Ensure adherence to loss prevention protocols and parcel check procedures
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous supervisory and labour management experience in retail or grocery environments
- Proficient cash handling and financial analysis skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to independently make effective decisions and resolve customer-related issues
- Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service with a focus on problem-solving
Working Conditions
The position requires flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
