About the Role
Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store in Gravenhurst, Ontario, to contribute to health, beauty, and convenience services within your community, maintaining a strong customer-focused approach.
Role Summary
The Cash Manager oversees the human, physical, and financial resources of the Cash Department. Collaborating effectively with other store sections, this position ensures store goals are met and delivers exemplary customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate leadership by exemplifying core company values to cashier staff.
- Lead recruiting efforts by interviewing and recommending candidates for cashier positions.
- Ensure cashier adherence to all store operational standards and policies.
- Manage scheduling for cashier team, including shifts, time off, and vacations within company guidelines.
- Provide job training, ongoing coaching, and instruction to cashier employees.
- Support the completion of performance reviews for cashier staff in partnership with the Floor Store Manager (FSM).
- Guarantee exceptional customer service that goes beyond expectations.
- Enforce strict compliance with the Uniform Policy to maintain a professional image for employees.
- Ensure cashiers request PC Optimum Cards at each transaction, promoting related company initiatives and fundraising activities.
- Oversee cash-related promotions, maintain awareness of weekly offers, and uphold the scanning code of practice.
- Maintain lottery trays according to standards, ensuring they are locked and compliant with legislative policies.
- Perform clerical and banking tasks, manage coin orders, and resolve discrepancies related to cash and coin handling.
- Keep the cash office and safe organized according to store standards.
- Generate weekly transaction exception and cash over/short reports, investigating any variances.
- Possess knowledge of charge accounts where applicable.
- Implement all loss prevention procedures according to company standards, including parcel check compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong planning, judgement, and decision-making capabilities, particularly when addressing customer requests.
- Independent thinking to assess situations and reach appropriate solutions by asking insightful questions.
- Proactive in meeting tasks and goals as assigned by management.
- Previous supervisory and labour management experience required.
- Experience handling cash and working in retail or grocery environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Efficient time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to conduct financial analysis.
- Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service.
Working Conditions
- Must be available to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends.
