Job description
Role overview
This is a talent pool recruitment exercise for possible future ongoing and temporary opportunities within the Central Coast area. The position is based in Tuggerah and is available on both full-time and part-time arrangements. It sits at Grade 3/4 and offers a salary of $84,659 to $92,701 per year, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
In this role, you will support caseworkers in their daily work with children, young people, families and communities who are facing complex and challenging circumstances.
Key duties
- Support caseworkers with preparing documents and contributing to case planning for children and young people.
- Gather and share relevant information about families, and arrange referrals and appointments as needed.
- Keep client and case records accurate and up to date, including entries in the client information system.
- Oversee low-risk family visits and write summary reports that clearly and correctly capture observations.
What the organisation is seeking
- Experience in community-based work with vulnerable and diverse groups.
- Confidence in record keeping, or a willingness to build that skill.
- The ability to assist caseworkers and an understanding of the pressures faced by disadvantaged families in difficult circumstances.
- A TAFE Diploma in a relevant discipline such as welfare or community services, or equivalent work experience.
- A current driver’s licence, as occasional travel will be required.
Pre-employment checks
Appointments depend on satisfactory reference checks and the following screening requirements: a National Criminal History Record Check in line with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014, and a Working with Children Check clearance under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
How to apply
Applicants must submit an updated résumé of up to 5 pages and a cover letter of up to 3 pages answering the two targeted questions:
- Describe a time when you were working under competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Describe a time when you worked in a team to achieve a difficult goal, including the contribution you made to the outcome.
Additional information
This role requires you to demonstrate alignment with the organisation’s values of inclusion, collaboration, adaptability, courage and integrity. You do not need to meet every desired requirement before applying, as the focus is on people who meet the essential requirements and are genuinely interested in the position.
The role offers a challenging but rewarding career, flexible and autonomous working arrangements, competitive pay and conditions, learning and development opportunities, and health and wellbeing support including an Employee Assistance Program.
The work is described as meaningful and community-focused, with collaboration across agencies and community partners to improve lives and help break disadvantage rather than simply manage it.
Recruitment may also create a talent pool for future ongoing and temporary roles, and that talent pool can remain active for up to 18 months.
Application deadline is Sunday, 28 June 2026 at 11:59pm AEST. For role enquiries, contact Karman Sawyer on 02 4321 7518 or Karman.Sawyer@dcj.nsw.gov.au.
