Job description
Role Overview
This position is a one-year contract role with Amazon's Disability & Leave Services (DLS) team, aiming to develop an industry-leading professional services program to manage leave of absence, disability, and accommodation support for Amazon employees and candidates worldwide.
The Case Manager acts as the primary contact for employees during their leave or disability event, offering comprehensive case management by reviewing cases, answering questions, and applying benefits while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding leave, disability events, and benefit options.
- Provide comprehensive case management by adjudicating leave requests, reviewing medical documentation, and ensuring alignment with leave plans, legal requirements, and Amazon policies.
- Use established guidelines, tools, and resources to oversee leave events appropriately.
- Continuously assess and modify case management plans to address evolving employee needs.
- Handle sensitive situations with tact and professionalism.
- Identify and resolve obstacles affecting leave events promptly.
- Manage communication during leave events to address employee-impacting issues effectively.
- Facilitate employees' smooth transition back to work with appropriate ramp-back plans.
- Educate managers and business partners on employee needs before and after leave periods.
- Maintain regular verbal and written communication with employees and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to standard procedures, federal and state laws, and internal policies.
- Keep accurate system records and documentation.
- Collaborate with third-party administrators, HR, Safety, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and other relevant teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Experience in customer-facing roles.
- Background in Human Resources, Claims Management, or managing Leave and Disability cases.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing sensitive or confidential employee data with strict confidentiality compliance.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to handle ambiguous or undefined challenges.
- Knowledge of employment law and HR policies.
- Familiarity with HR Information Systems (HRIS) or Applicant Tracking Systems.
- Experience working in diverse, multicultural, or bilingual work environments.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range is between 20.33 USD and 35.57 USD, with actual starting pay dependent on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits from day one include Employee Assistance Program, mental health support, medical advice line, and 401(k) matching.
