Role Overview
The Case Manager in Criminal Assets Management is responsible for handling intricate cases related to criminal asset restraint and forfeiture. This role ensures that assets are safeguarded, managed, and disposed of in line with legislation and societal standards. The position requires collaboration with the Australian Federal Police, governmental entities, legal experts, service providers, and internal teams to evaluate cases, conduct investigations, and deliver expert case management. The incumbent will uphold fair, prompt, and evidence-driven decision-making, maintain excellent stakeholder relations, and oversee high-value assets effectively. Their efforts contribute to preserving the integrity of Australia's criminal asset confiscation system and returning value to the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, authorize, and issue applications in compliance with relevant laws and standard operational policies.
- Identify and escalate complicated issues as necessary.
- Develop commercially robust strategies for the preservation and timely disposal of high-value criminal assets to maximize public benefit.
- Prepare detailed business correspondence and status updates for major stakeholders.
- Maintain active communication with AFSA clients, government agencies, external service providers, legal representatives, and professional organizations.
- Ensure corporate and legal records, including NPII, trustee files, and case notes, are meticulously maintained per established guidelines.
- Contribute to the refinement of best practices and process improvements to manage complex challenges effectively.
- Adhere to the APS Values, Code of Conduct, Employment Principles, workplace health and safety responsibilities, and AFSA’s risk management and legislative frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess tertiary qualifications in Law, Accounting, or a related field from an Australian or equivalent international institution.
- Experience in Insolvency or the Finance sector is highly beneficial.
