Job description

Company overview

Carousell Group is a major multi-category secondhand commerce platform in Greater Southeast Asia, with a mission to make pre-owned the preferred choice. Established in Singapore in August 2012, the group operates in seven markets through brands such as Carousell, Carousell Media Group, Cho Tot, Laku6, LuxLexicon, Mudah.my, OneShift, REFASH, and Revo Financial, and reaches tens of millions of monthly active users. The company is supported by investors including Telenor Group, Rakuten Ventures, Naver, STIC Investments, 500 Global, and Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India).

Carousell is built by people who care deeply about solving real problems. Its culture emphasizes HEART: Humility, Empathy, Accountability, Relentlessly resourceful, and Teamwork. The organisation believes in hiring, developing, and advancing people who live these values.

Mission

The company is scaling beyond classifieds and re-commerce to become an AI-first commerce ecosystem. To support that shift, it is investing in the development of its next generation of leaders.

Programme overview

This is a selective leadership development programme, not a standard management trainee path. It is designed for high-potential graduates who want to become independent operators capable of delivering outcomes quickly and solving problems with speed and ownership. Internally, these performers are referred to as “Barrels.”

The first stage is a 3-month immersive experience in the Founders Office, where participants build working knowledge of data, finance, and marketplace fundamentals. After that, they complete 3 structured rotations over the following 21 months across the company’s core business areas: product, growth, and commercialisation.

During each rotation, participants report to a senior leader and follow a structured learning plan that builds the capabilities needed to lead in an online marketplace. The work is applied directly to real business situations and is expected to create meaningful impact for users and customers. Participants also contribute to organisation-building initiatives that help shape the future direction of the business.

The target outcome of the 24-month programme is to be ready to own a product, category, market, or growth engine at the end of the incubator period.

What makes the programme different

  • Small intake size with minimal bureaucracy, allowing close mentorship from a senior executive manager and direct ownership of important mandates, including real P&L and metrics from day one.
  • Dedicated executive mentorship to strengthen judgment and business-building instincts.
  • Exposure to the Group CEO and co-founder, offering direct learning from top leadership and an entrepreneurial perspective.
  • Hands-on participation in shaping the AI strategy, with each rotation focused on using AI infrastructure to solve user problems and drive product and commercial outcomes.

Candidate profile

Applicants should bring strong reasoning ability, comfort with data, commercial thinking, and clear communication. The preferred academic background includes data analytics, economics, finance, business, or engineering, especially for candidates who want to move into business operations.

The company is looking for people with 0 to 2 years of professional experience after graduation. What matters most is demonstrated execution and what has been built or delivered, rather than years on paper.

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, practical, and collaborative, with the drive to make things happen, work well with others, and recover quickly from setbacks.

A strong “builder” profile is important: experience founding something, joining an early-stage startup, running a profitable side hustle, or leading a community is highly relevant.

Candidates should also be comfortable with ambiguity, able to perform under pressure, and willing to treat failure as feedback that helps them pivot quickly.

AI should already be part of the applicant’s day-to-day workflow. Tools such as Claude, Cursor, n8n, v0, or custom GPTs are expected to be used not just for writing, but for building systems, automating work, and shipping output faster than would otherwise be possible.

Submitting an application means agreeing to the company’s PDPA policies. Candidates can refer to the Personal Data Privacy Statement for more details.
