Careers and Skills Facilitator

Role Overview

The Careers and Skills Facilitator position offers a part-time role focused on enhancing career education and pathways for young people across multiple areas of South London. The role requires collaboration with schools, colleges, employers, and community organizations to foster meaningful improvements in career services and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and cultivate strong, trusted relationships with senior leadership across a portfolio of educational institutions within South London.
• Analyze performance data to identify service gaps, direct targeted interventions, and drive measurable progress for young individuals.
• Partner with employers to develop enriching workplace experiences that help young people build skills, confidence, and advancement opportunities.
• Guide educational leaders in embedding career education strategies within their overall school improvement plans.
• Plan and lead professional development sessions, networks, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the education system's capacity.
• Discover and initiate new collaborations and approaches to increase youth participation, foster employer engagement, and improve career progression outcomes.
• Work alongside local authorities and strategic stakeholders to strengthen the regional career and skills ecosystem.
• Contribute to the implementation of key priorities for the Careers Hub, aiming to create a more interconnected and employer-informed system.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven ability to build and influence productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including education leaders, employers, and community organizations.
• Experienced in planning, executing, and assessing programmes or projects with demonstrated measurable achievements.
• Skillful in utilizing data, evidence, and insights to identify priorities, target interventions, and enhance performance outcomes.
• Possesses a curious and innovative mindset to identify new opportunities, pilot approaches, and promote service delivery improvements.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation abilities capable of engaging and persuading diverse audiences to foster positive change.
• Committed to improving youth outcomes with an understanding of the challenges faced by young people and the supportive role of education and employer engagement.

Additional Information

This is a fixed-term appointment running until 31 August 2028, requiring 18 hours per week and hybrid work involving travel between five boroughs. The salary ranges from £38,976 to £47,229. The position offers opportunities to directly influence how careers education and employer engagement are delivered, working with a diverse group of partners to create better prospects for young people.
