Job description
About the Program
The Career Kickstarter in Trading & Research is an exclusive five-day intensive initiative designed by Optiver to accelerate the transition from university to a full-time role as a trader or researcher. This program offers a unique opportunity for graduates and final-year students to immerse themselves in the dynamic field of quantitative trading within our Singapore office. Participants will engage in expert-led sessions covering options theory, hands-on trading algorithms, and practical industry skills. Successful candidates may receive an offer for a graduate position for 2027.
Program Details
- Date: 21 – 25 September 2026
- Location: Singapore Office (travel and accommodation covered for non-residents)
- Eligibility: Final-year university students graduating in 2027 or graduates from 2024 to 2026 who are committed to working in Singapore long term
Key Learning and Activities
- Master the fundamentals of options trading through interactive lectures
- Understand how data and market reports influence new trading strategies
- Design, build, and test your own trading algorithm with hands-on support
- Participate in simulated trading games replicating real market scenarios to enhance decision-making under pressure
Networking and Culture
- Benefit from mentorship by current and former traders and engineers in the education team
- Engage with professionals across trading, research, and engineering disciplines through curated networking events

Candidate Profile
- University students graduating in 2027 or graduates from 2024-2026 across any degree discipline
- Strong collaborative skills with a passion for quantitative problem solving
- Excellent logical reasoning capabilities
- Experience with Python programming or scripting is advantageous

The program accommodates only one stream application per candidate — Trading & Research or Technology. Candidates interested in technology-focused roles are directed to apply separately.
