Career Conversion Programme (AnT) - Operations Technician (Pilot Plant)

Programme Overview

The Career Conversion Programme (Attach-and-Train) is designed to develop skilled professionals for Singapore's biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector. This 15-month structured on-the-job training at GSK focuses on cultivating talents for advanced biopharmaceutical manufacturing roles. Participation is limited to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. Trainees receive monthly allowances exempt from CPF contributions.

Role Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and repair Pilot Plant equipment and instruments to optimize availability and minimize product changeover time according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines.
• Troubleshoot and repair all instruments and equipment within the Pilot Plant.
• Determine troubleshooting methods and decide if external expertise (mechanical, instrument, automation, electrical) is needed.
• Coordinate with external resources for repair and troubleshooting tasks.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance safely and cost-effectively while ensuring high quality standards.
• Assist Mechanical Technicians with equipment disassembly and reassembly during cleanouts for product changeovers.
• Calibrate and prepare instruments prior to new product campaigns.
• Install and configure instruments on mobile Pilot Plant equipment.
• Implement minor plant modifications and capital projects within specified budgets and guidelines.
• Collaborate with the Shift Superintendent to prioritize maintenance and troubleshooting activities, report progress, and escalate issues as needed.
• Liaise with Instrument Technicians, Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, the Automation Team, and external contractors for maintenance operations.
• Recommend spare parts inventory and tools procurement.
• Maintain personal accountability for quality maintenance work impacting product quality.
• Adhere to permit-to-work systems during all activities.
• Develop troubleshooting and maintenance procedures for instruments.
• Train Mechanical Technicians in basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Enhance cost efficiency by initiating Lean Sigma activities focusing on instrument reliability and standardized maintenance.
• Offer timely technical support to other departments for continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply and interpret GMP standards effectively.

Candidate Attributes and Qualifications

• Hold NTC, ITC, or Diploma in Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, or Bio-processing related disciplines.
• Demonstrate commitment to cGMP and EHS compliance for clean-room plant operations.
• Be a proactive and self-driven team player with strong communication skills.
• Have understanding of basic chemistry, biology, and physical principles.
• Be willing to work any shift, supporting operations that may run 24/7, including anticipated 12-hour shifts starting January 2025.

Additional Information

You will be based at GSK's manufacturing site near Jurong in Singapore's West Region. The programme welcomes applications on a rolling basis with early application encouraged to secure a position.
