Job description

About the organisation

Cheshire Ireland delivers high-quality support to adults living with physical, sensory and neurological disabilities, including people with medium and high support needs. The organisation focuses on helping people live as independently as possible while protecting their rights and wellbeing.

What the service is like

The service environment is described as friendly, collaborative and positive, with busy residential and community-based support settings. The approach centres on supporting one person at a time through rights-based, person-centred care.

Main purpose of the role

In this role, you will assist people with day-to-day living in line with their individual needs and personal plans. The work involves building respectful, equal relationships that encourage independence and uphold the rights of the people supported.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will be motivated, energetic, creative and genuinely committed to making a positive difference. You should share the organisation’s values, be open to change, and help support continuous improvement across the service.

Requirements

Applicants should have, or be working towards, at least QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support, QQI Level 6 in Social Care, or a nursing qualification.

Previous experience supporting people with disabilities is required.

Where a candidate has relevant experience but no formal qualification, they may still be considered if they are willing to complete QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support within 18 months of starting.

A full manual driving licence is needed, or the candidate must be actively working towards one, and be willing to drive for work.

The role requires availability for all shifts across a 24/7 roster.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, good written and spoken English, computer literacy, personal integrity, trustworthiness and a positive attitude are important.

Eligibility to work in Ireland is essential.

Experience with online care management systems would be an advantage.

Applicants should also show a commitment to personal and professional development, rights-based care, and ongoing learning.
