Job description
Overview
Located at Caremark's Lancaster Centre in Gloucester, this role involves helping clients with their personal care and support needs while promoting their dignity and independence. The care provided is similar to what a family member would give, excluding nursing tasks that require a trained nurse.
Primary Duties
- Assist clients with morning and evening routines including getting up, going to bed, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting.
- Support clients with mobility challenges and physical disabilities, including managing incontinence and using personal aids.
- Provide care for clients who are temporarily ill, including bed nursing and feeding assistance.
- Support clients who are terminally ill with appropriate care and compassion.
- Encourage mental and physical stimulation through conversations, outings, reading, writing, hobbies, and recreational activities.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as bed making, tidying, emptying commodes, and cleaning.
- Inspect, wash, and mend clients' clothes as needed.
- Prepare, serve, and clear light meals and set tables.
- Document reports, participate in client reviews, and engage in training activities.
- Follow all Caremark policies and procedures consistently.
- Communicate any significant changes in a client's health or circumstances to supervisors or care managers.
- Promote client independence wherever possible.
