Job description
Role overview
Asahi Beverages is looking for a Capital Project Manager to join its Supply Chain function in New Zealand. This is a newly created opportunity focused on planning and delivering important capital engineering work across NZ sites, helping improve how operations run in a safe and efficient way.
The role is responsible for managing capital engineering projects across manufacturing and logistics warehouse locations, from the early design and purchasing stages through construction, staffing, commissioning, and final handover. Success in the role means delivering the approved project business case in line with scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
Please note that this position requires flexibility to work mainly from the Papakura manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of capital projects from initial scoping and design through procurement, contractor coordination, commissioning, and handover.
- Run several projects at once while keeping deadlines, budgets, and resources under control.
- Prepare precise scopes, technical requirements, and project-related documents.
- Develop effective working relationships with stakeholders across manufacturing locations and keep communication timely and clear.
- Lead contractors on site and ensure safety procedures and quality expectations are followed.
- Assist with purchasing activities and work through internal systems to achieve strong project results.
- Help improve the way projects are planned, delivered, and made safer over time.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have an engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical, or a similar field.
They should bring technical knowledge relevant to a supply chain environment, including areas such as brewing, packaging, or utilities, along with experience overseeing multiple projects tied to process improvement, brewing, or infrastructure.
Strong written and verbal communication is important, especially for translating technical information into clear project scopes for different audiences. The role also calls for leadership capability to direct contractors and support safe, efficient delivery.
Applicants should be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable moving into new project areas as needed, with a solid understanding of safety requirements, procurement processes, and project management tools.
