About the role
Diocesan School for Girls is looking for a dependable and skilled Campus Painter and Decorator to join its Campus team in Epsom, Auckland. This permanent full-time position supports the school’s wider mission by helping maintain a polished, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare interior and exterior surfaces and apply paint, varnish, stains, and other protective coatings.
- Install wallpaper and vinyl wall coverings, and complete specialist decorative work such as glazing, marbling, and wood-graining.
- Set up work areas safely, including the use of scaffolding and ladders; a scaffold licence and experience working at heights are preferred.
- Estimate materials, carry out general maintenance tasks, and leave all work areas clean and ready for use.
- Work in line with health and safety requirements and cooperate with the Campus Maintenance team, contractors, and school staff to complete work to a high standard.
- Contribute a positive, proactive, and inclusive approach to day-to-day work.
Skills and experience required
- Experience in a similar role, or as a commercial/residential painter and decorator, is expected; a trade qualification would be an advantage.
- Strong practical painting and decorating ability across both interior and exterior work.
- High attention to detail, including accurate colour matching.
- Comfort working at heights and in physically demanding settings.
- Sound time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of safe work practices and safety procedures.
