Role overview

Diocesan School for Girls is looking for a dependable and practical Campus Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of its Epsom campus. This permanent, full-time role plays an important part in maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-presented environment for students, staff, and the wider school community.

The school’s purpose is to inspire and support young women so they are confident, resilient, and prepared to succeed in a changing world. This position contributes to that mission by ensuring the campus facilities are cared for to a consistently high standard.

What you will do

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, and timely repairs across campus buildings and facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by following health and safety practices and building code requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of completed work and manage tools, spare parts, and equipment stock responsibly.
  • Work closely with the campus team, contractors, and suppliers to help deliver reliable facilities support across the site.
  • Approach day-to-day work with a positive, proactive, and inclusive attitude.

Experience and skills needed

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on maintenance experience and the confidence to diagnose and resolve a wide range of issues. You should be comfortable working in a school environment and able to balance quality, safety, and efficiency in your work.

  • Experience in a similar position or in a related field such as building maintenance, facilities work, construction, or the trades.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
  • Good knowledge of building maintenance systems and repair methods.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well with others, with solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining high standards.
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders, and working in varied conditions.
