About the role
This position is for an enthusiastic barista to join a Tesco Café team and help deliver quality drinks and friendly service to customers throughout the day. The café serves people making a quick stop after shopping as well as those meeting friends, so the role focuses on creating a warm, efficient, and dependable customer experience.
You will use your background in barista work or wider hospitality to support the team, share practical know-how, and stay confident with the café’s menu, offers, and any new changes. The job also includes checking stock, serving promptly while handling special customer needs, and working closely with the Café Manager to help develop other team members. Learning and self-development are part of the role too, through Tesco’s Click and Learn portal and other café learning materials.
You must be 18 years old or over to be considered for this role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold drinks quickly and to a high standard.
- Follow food safety and hygiene rules at all times to maintain required standards.
- Monitor stock levels regularly and follow company policies and procedures.
- Work with the Café Manager to identify colleagues who can grow their barista skills and support their development.
- Stay informed about internal communications, menu updates, new offers, and café initiatives.
- Handle customer complaints wherever possible and help resolve issues in a helpful manner.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a barista or in a hospitality setting.
- Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Confidence in coaching and training others in an inclusive way.
- Good planning and organisational ability.
- Ability to use initiative to improve processes or adapt to changing situations.
- Clear communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and the Café Manager.
