Role overview

Etihad is inviting UAE Nationals to begin a structured entry path into aviation maintenance through its Cadet Technician Programme. This development opportunity is designed to build technical capability, strengthen confidence on the job, and prepare participants for a career track leading to Licensed Aircraft Technician status.

The programme combines classroom learning with supervised practical training. Over two years, cadets gain exposure to aircraft maintenance work across different aircraft types while developing the discipline, teamwork, and professional standards expected in a fast-growing airline.

Programme outcomes

• Join a recognised aviation maintenance pathway and complete the GCAA-approved aircraft maintenance technician course.
• Build supervised hands-on experience and complete the required 12 months of work experience needed for GCAA license grant and aircraft maintenance certification authorisation.
• Earn the CAT A licence from the GCAA.
• Receive aircraft maintenance certification authorisation.
• Finish the programme as a licensed aircraft technician.

Key accountabilities

• Work through the approved GCAA training syllabus and meet all programme requirements.
• Maintain at least a 75% average across module examinations within the required timelines.
• Meet the performance standards set by the GCAA, the training institute, and the company.
• Complete on-the-job training within the assigned timeframe after theory qualification.
• Accurately complete the logbook and carry out assigned tasks with discipline.
• Attend and pass mandatory training sessions in line with Etihad Airways policy.
• Participate in technical staff competency assessments whenever scheduled.
• Perform all assigned work safely and in accordance with company procedures and applicable GCAA regulations.
• Follow company, health and safety, airport, and operational procedures at all times.
• Stay current with regulatory updates, internal procedures, and modern maintenance best practices.
• Take ownership of work completed under approved data and as assigned by certifying staff.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must be UAE Nationals holding a valid family book. The programme is intended for candidates between 18 and 29 years of age.

Candidates should have a high school certificate or an equivalent qualification with Maths, Physics, or Science, and an overall score of 60% or above. A strong command of English is required.

Male applicants must have completed UAE National Service or have been permanently exempted. Candidates should also be prepared to work shifts, including night shifts, and be comfortable working outdoors.
