Job description

Role overview

We are looking for a CAD Technician to join a forward-thinking site construction team in a site-based position supporting a significant civil engineering infrastructure project in Sheffield. The role involves working alongside engineers and project teams to produce reliable drawings and help keep site operations moving smoothly.

Key duties

  • Create concept-level design drawings and support early design development.
  • Work with colleagues across engineering and project teams to coordinate outputs.
  • Check, update and refine construction models as the project develops.
  • Prepare sketches and AutoCAD drawings for construction and temporary works proposals.
  • Develop and update as-built construction information for issue to clients.
  • Carry out drone-related tasks, including image handling and point-cloud processing.

What you should bring

  • A practical approach to solving technical problems.
  • A solid grasp of civil engineering fundamentals.
  • A civil engineering degree such as BEng, or equivalent college-level training, would be useful but is not mandatory.
  • Good people skills and the ability to stay organised.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and BricsCAD, with Civils 3D or N4orce considered an advantage.
  • Exposure to Revit or Tekla would be helpful, though not required.
  • Comfort using computers, IT tools and general software.
