Job description
Role overview
Element Materials Technology is looking for a Metallurgist to support the Metallurgy Lab Manager with the everyday running of the laboratory, as well as site and field testing activities. The position is based in Doha, Qatar.
Key responsibilities
The role involves maintaining compliance with ISO 17025 and handling metallurgical failure investigations on ferrous and non-ferrous components. You will prepare technical failure analysis reports, perform a range of mechanical tests for material property assessment and weld procedure qualification, and carry out corrosion testing in line with NACE requirements and project specifications.
You will also complete metallographic evaluations to assess grain size, cleanliness, phase content, and overall microstructure. In addition, the role requires coordinating test details with clients and third-party witnesses, supervising technicians according to the work plan, and supporting other departmental tasks as needed to help deliver the company’s annual goals and budget.

Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or a closely related field and have at least 7 years of laboratory experience in metallurgical testing. A minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in mechanical testing and failure analysis is required.
Strong technical report writing, solid mathematical ability, safe handling of metallurgical testing equipment, and experience working in laboratory and/or industrial environments are important. The role also calls for excellent organisational ability, leadership skills, and strong communication.
