Job description

About the Role

This contract position as a C++ Quality Assurance Lead is fully remote and involves supervising standards of quality and consistency in AI-driven C++ training assignments. The lead will review both machine-generated C++ code and contributions from trainers and QAs, providing detailed written feedback aligned with project requirements. Key tasks include ensuring code correctness, successful compilation, runtime stability, memory safety, optimal performance, sound algorithmic logic, effective debugging, clarity, maintainability, proper formatting, adherence to instructions, and compliance with project-specific criteria.

Role Importance

As part of a fast-expanding AI data services enterprise that supplies training materials for leading global AI and foundation-model organizations, the quality leadership in C++ programming is crucial. This position guarantees that the C++ training content meets client goals by being precise, compilable, efficient, safe, and well-documented.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or hold commensurate software engineering experience.
  • Proficient in English to clearly interpret guidelines and deliver technical feedback.
  • Over three years of professional exposure in areas such as C++ development, systems programming, performance optimization, embedded or backend software engineering, peer code review, QA, or mentoring roles.
  • Strong expertise with modern C++ standards covering RAII, smart pointers, templates, STL components, object lifetime management, move semantics, concurrency, exception handling, memory management, and build tools.
  • Capability to detect complications like undefined behavior, memory leaks, dangling pointers, race conditions, inefficient coding approaches, non-compilable code, false API references, and inadequate explanations.
  • Preferred familiarity with tools and environments including CMake, GCC/Clang/MSVC compilers, GDB/LLDB debuggers, sanitizers, Valgrind, unit testing frameworks like GoogleTest and Catch2, Boost libraries, GitHub workflows, CI/CD pipelines, profiling, and static code analyzers.
  • Experience managing or assisting distributed teams of trainers, reviewers, software engineers, mentors, or quality assurance personnel is strongly advantageous.
  • Comfortable utilizing communication and project tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, GitHub, and project management platforms.
  • Highly organized in maintaining documentation like style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding procedures, honeypots, calibration exercises, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Previous involvement in AI training, data labeling, large language model evaluation, code quality assurance, or rubric-based code assessments is a notable plus.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular quality checks on C++ submissions, identifying issues and delivering direct feedback, escalating urgent or systemic problems appropriately.
  • Review AI-produced C++ code for correctness, algorithmic soundness, debugging effectiveness, testing rigor, explanations, and optimization suggestions.
  • Engage with trainers and QA contributors through Discord to communicate updates in guidelines, workflows, and review standards specifically related to C++.
  • Respond to technical inquiries concerning memory safety, compilation, templates, STL usage, concurrency challenges, computational complexity, testing protocols, and rubric interpretation.
  • Manage contributor activity by contacting inactive members through direct messaging, monitoring follow-up, and flagging availability concerns.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive C++ guidance materials including style guides, tracking spreadsheets, FAQs, example code sets, honeypot scenarios, calibration tasks, and onboarding documentation.
  • Conduct onboarding and training sessions to clarify project goals, review criteria, and expectations for C++ quality standards.
  • Identify and highlight risks such as unsafe implementations, non-compilable code, misleading advice, inefficient constructs, or code unfit for production environments.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing recurring quality shortcomings and formulating scalable quality assurance processes.
