Buyer - Edible Oils Division

Role Overview

Our client, a prominent wholesale and retail company, seeks an accomplished Buyer for their Edible Oils Division. This role involves overseeing the procurement process by sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining strong supplier relations to ensure consistent product availability, competitive costs, and efficient inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement procurement strategies tailored for edible oils.
• Engage with both local and international suppliers to negotiate contracts and manage ongoing relationships.
• Track market movements, including commodity prices and competitor behaviors.
• Negotiate pricing structures, trading conditions, and promotional agreements.
• Maintain suitable stock quantities to fulfill demand without incurring excessive holding expenses.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Logistics teams to guarantee product availability.
• Evaluate sales data, profit margins, and inventory trends to enhance profitability.
• Address supplier performance challenges to ensure consistent quality of products.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a Degree or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related discipline.
• A qualification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is advantageous.
• At least five years of experience in purchasing, ideally within edible oils or fast-moving consumer goods sectors.
• Experience sourcing edible oils from India is a plus.
• Strong negotiating capabilities and supplier relations expertise.
• Excellent commercial insight paired with robust analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Capability to perform effectively in dynamic wholesale or retail environments.
