About Jabil

Jabil is a long-established global manufacturing and engineering partner serving major brands with end-to-end supply chain, engineering, and production support. With six decades of experience and more than 100 facilities around the world, the company blends international scale with local execution to deliver customized and scalable solutions. Its approach also emphasizes sustainability, lower environmental impact, and the creation of inclusive, thriving communities.

Role Overview

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing all materials needed to support production runs and prototype builds. The role focuses on securing competitive pricing, agreed lead times, resolving quality concerns, and balancing delivery performance with inventory control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to MPS loading decisions by accurately sizing material needs.
  • Review, maintain, and run the MRP process while continuously checking the material pipeline against planning requirements and acting on supply disruptions.
  • Make sure materials arrive in time to support production schedules by coordinating MRP execution, timely deliveries, and movement from receiving into production.
  • Reduce material liability by understanding whether responsibility lies with the supplier or customer, supplying supporting data to Business Unit Management, and using negotiated supplier terms to Jabil’s advantage.
  • Create purchase orders in line with pricing, terms, and conditions already agreed by Commodity Managers and Buyers, and ensure suppliers comply with those agreements.
  • Improve order management practices so communication with suppliers stays efficient and clear.
  • Keep master data and purchasing planning settings accurate to limit liability and maintain the right balance between procurement cost and inventory levels.
  • Track supplier delivery and quality performance, and resolve recurring or serious issues using corrective action methods and support resources.
  • Assist Accounts Payable in clearing invoice mismatches.
  • Provide input for commodity and pricing strategy execution, working closely with Buyers, Commodity Managers, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Share feedback on supplier performance and on Jabil’s sourcing strategies.
  • Work to reduce freight costs related to materials.
  • Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and service metrics and report findings.
  • Follow all safety and health requirements relevant to the position.
  • Comply with the company security policy and related procedures.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

The role requires strong numeracy, analytical thinking, and communication skills, along with the ability to use a Windows-based computer environment and Jabil’s software tools at an advanced level. The buyer should be able to interpret instructions, prepare simple written communication, read visual aids and short memos, solve routine problems, and work with standard operating situations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work with calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Comfort applying basic algebra and geometry concepts.
  • Ability to present information clearly and answer questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Capability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, including a Windows-based operating system and related software.
  • Advanced PC proficiency, including training and familiarity with Jabil software packages.
  • Ability to draft simple correspondence and interpret visual aids.
  • Ability to follow straightforward one- or two-step instructions using common sense.
  • Ability to handle routine situations with limited variation.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate and interpret rates, ratios, percentages, and graphs.
