Briscoe Group is offering a standout chance to join Rebel Sport, a well-known retail name in New Zealand, and take charge of a dynamic apparel category. This role sits within the Merchandise team and plays a key part in building product ranges that appeal to customers, reflect current market demand, and support the brand’s ongoing expansion.

What you will be doing
- Develop, choose, and manage apparel assortments that match customer expectations, market movements, and wider business goals.
- Establish productive supplier partnerships and negotiate product costs, trading terms, and new range opportunities.
- Use sales, stock, margin, and market information to guide smart purchasing decisions.
- Oversee category results throughout the product lifecycle, including ranging, pricing, promotions, and end-of-line clearance.
- Collaborate with planners to improve stock availability, inventory levels, and stock turnover.
- Work alongside Marketing, Ecommerce, Retail Operations, and store teams to support launches, promotional plans, and clear product messaging.
What you need to bring
- About 2 to 3 years of experience in buying, category management, or a closely related merchandise role.
- Prior apparel buying experience will be considered a strong advantage.
- Solid commercial judgement and the ability to work with sales, stock, margin, pricing, and promotional data.
- Strong negotiation ability, along with confidence in influencing suppliers and building relationships.
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- A self-starting, inquisitive, and customer-first mindset.
- Genuine enthusiasm for retail and sport.
- A degree in business, supply chain, or a related discipline would be beneficial.
