Job description
About Taj Hotels
Taj Hotels, part of The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), has been associated with luxury travel and memorable guest experiences since 1903. In 2024, Brand Finance recognized Taj as India’s strongest brand across all industries and the world’s strongest hotel brand. The brand is known for its high service standards and a collection of properties that includes city hotels, palaces, resorts, and nature-focused retreats. With a presence across India, North America, the United Kingdom, Africa, the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Nepal, Taj offers a global working environment and varied career opportunities.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Butler position at a Taj resort in the Maldives. The selected professional will deliver highly tailored guest support, ensuring every stay feels seamless, personal, and memorable. The role requires close coordination with multiple hotel departments to uphold Taj’s service promise and maintain a refined standard of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
The Butler will welcome guests, coordinate arrival and departure formalities, and take ownership of daily preferences and requests. The role includes arranging dining in the room, assisting with packing and unpacking, planning excursions and leisure activities, and supporting special events or celebrations. The position also involves working closely with housekeeping, culinary, front office, and concierge teams to keep service smooth and consistent. Maintaining accurate guest profiles, anticipating needs before they are voiced, and delivering every interaction with professionalism, discretion, and warmth are central to the job.
Skills and Qualifications
Candidates should bring strong hospitality instincts, polished guest-handling skills, and experience delivering personalized service. Clear communication and confident interpersonal ability are essential, especially when engaging with international travelers. Good organization and time management are needed to manage several guest requests at once. A well-groomed, discreet, and respectful approach is important due to the private nature of the role. Experience in luxury hotels or resorts, ideally in butler service, guest relations, or front-office work, is preferred. The job also calls for flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, in a remote island setting. English fluency is required, while additional languages are a plus. A basic understanding of food and beverage service and in-room dining etiquette is expected. Attention to detail and adherence to Taj’s quality and safety expectations are important. A hospitality diploma or degree is preferred, and relevant training or certifications would be an advantage.
Additional Information
The position is based in the Maldives and may require flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, due to the resort environment. The work setting is remote and island-based, so adaptability and readiness for varied operational demands are important.
