Business Technology Platform Consultant - SAP BTP

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Business Technology Platform Consultant to design, develop, test, deploy, and manage comprehensive enterprise solutions utilizing SAP BTP services. This role supports innovation in cloud-native quality engineering and requires a holistic understanding of the entire BTP lifecycle, practical enterprise application challenges, and distributed system testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Create scalable SAP BTP solutions encompassing application development, integration, workflow automation, data handling, API, and extensibility scenarios.
• Develop cloud-native applications, services, workflows, and integrations using SAP BTP tools and architectural best practices.
• Conduct rigorous testing of BTP applications, APIs, workflows, integration flows, event-driven mechanisms, and cloud deployments through structured quality methodologies.
• Implement deployment processes for BTP solutions following repeatable release, transport, and CI/CD practices within enterprise governance frameworks.
• Architect solutions leveraging SAP CAP, Integration Suite, API Management, Event Mesh, Cloud Foundry Runtime, and adherent clean-core extensibility principles.
• Assess architectural trade-offs considering aspects such as scalability, maintainability, security, performance, cost, testing viability, and operational reliability.
• Identify integration, testing, automation, release, and process gaps within SAP and non-SAP customer environments.
• Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, tooling concepts, design patterns, and automation assets that enhance scalability and customer impact.
• Formulate robust testing strategies for UI, API, integration, workflow, event-based, regression, and end-to-end business process validation.
• Collaborate with AI-driven and codeless testing platforms to enhance SAP test coverage, reliability, defect tracking, and release assurance.
• Create business cases, ROI analyses, and justification documents translating technical solutions into tangible customer value.
• Engage with presales, product, engineering, delivery, and customer teams to align technical implementation with business needs.
• Produce clear and professional documentation for architecture, requirements, testing approaches, release procedures, and solution recommendations.
• Mentor and guide cross-functional teams on SAP BTP design principles, extension strategies, integration patterns, and automation-led delivery best practices.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or postgraduate qualifications in technology, enterprise architecture, analytics, or digital transformation are desirable but not mandatory. A strong foundation in software engineering, enterprise applications, cloud platforms, integration, data, and automation is essential. Relevant SAP certifications or cloud architecture and DevOps credentials supported by hands-on SAP BTP project experience will enhance candidacy.

Experience

Applicants should have 6 to 12 years of overall professional experience with substantive recent exposure to SAP Business Technology Platform. Experience must include roles in implementation, architecture, solutioning, product engineering, consulting, or transformation within SAP BTP landscapes—beyond support or monitoring functions. Proven involvement across design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, or operationalization of BTP services is essential, alongside familiarity with SAP and non-SAP integration, S/4HANA extensions, API-centric design, cloud-native delivery, automated testing, and stakeholder engagement.

Technical & Functional Skills

• Expertise in SAP Business Technology Platform including SAP CAP (Node.js or Java), Business Application Studio, Cloud Foundry Runtime, and BTP cockpit.
• Proficiency in SAP Integration Suite, Cloud Integration, API Management, event-driven integrations, Event Mesh, OData, REST APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Knowledge on S/4HANA extension development, clean-core methodologies, side-by-side extensibility, workflow automation, build apps, process automation, and iRPA.
• Familiarity with SAP HANA Cloud, Datasphere, data modeling, SAP Master Data Governance (MDG), cloud data flows, and enterprise data handling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated releases, transport management, environment promotion, and DevOps governance.
• Capabilities in API, integration, functional, regression testing, test data strategies, distributed system validation, and cloud quality engineering.
• Understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, secure coding, authentication and authorization frameworks, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting operations.
• Awareness of AI/ML or generative AI services on BTP and their use in evaluating automation potential within SAP-focused enterprise landscapes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP testing platforms, AI-powered test automation, codeless automation, test management, and real-device or cloud-based testing validation.
• Exposure to S/4HANA transformation projects, complex multi-system integrations, enterprise SaaS product engineering, and industries such as BFSI, retail, and food and beverage.
• Specialization in SAP areas including Business Application Studio, Cloud Foundry Runtime, Workflow Management, Event Mesh, Master Data Governance, iRPA, Integration Suite, Build Apps, API Management, SAP HANA Cloud, or Datasphere.
• Track record in building business case presentations, ROI models, solution accelerators, automation frameworks, proof-of-concept implementations, or reusable architecture patterns.
