Join Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s Public Health Team in a business support role where you will help keep administrative, business, and project activity running smoothly. This internal opportunity is suited to someone who is highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a busy public health environment.

What the role involves

You will provide confidential and comprehensive administrative support to help the team deliver services effectively. The post covers a broad range of duties and requires confidence using multiple systems, initiative in solving day-to-day issues, and flexibility to support service needs.

  • Deliver efficient administrative and business support to the Public Health Team.
  • Assist with personnel and wider business functions across the service.
  • Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes, and monitor follow-up actions.
  • Carry out varied administrative tasks using several IT systems and software tools.
  • Take a proactive approach to resolving operational issues.
  • Work with colleagues across the Health Board and with external partner organisations.
  • Help ensure the office and team functions run effectively.
  • Remain flexible to meet changing service requirements.

Skills, knowledge and experience needed

The team is looking for someone with solid administrative knowledge, strong IT capability, and prior experience in business support or secretarial work. You should be able to deal with non-routine issues, organise competing priorities, and maintain a professional, confidential approach at all times.

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems, including non-routine processes gained through training and experience.
  • Understanding of specialist terms, organisational policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to solve problems and develop alternative approaches where needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other IT applications.
  • Advanced keyboard skills.
  • Experience producing agendas, compiling reports, and taking minutes.
  • Experience supporting an executive or senior manager with secretarial and administrative duties.
  • Experience managing electronic diaries.
  • Ability to work on your own, plan effectively, and handle pressure and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and telephone skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, confidentiality, and presentation skills.
  • Welsh language ability or a willingness to learn is desirable.
