Job description
Role overview
The Business Internal Audit Team Member supports independent internal audit work across business and enterprise functions. The role is based in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, and requires a Chartered Accountant with 4 to 6 years of experience. The position focuses on providing objective assurance to senior leadership and the Audit Committee through the Business Audit Team Lead on the strength of internal controls, governance practices, and risk management frameworks.
Key responsibilities
The selected professional will independently plan and carry out audits in line with the approved audit program. This includes performing walkthroughs, mapping processes, testing both the design and operating effectiveness of controls, and preparing workpapers, risk-control matrices, and other audit records according to required standards. The role also involves on-site visits to plants or other locations and completing audits within agreed timelines.
In addition, the position requires evaluating governance, risk, and internal control practices across financial, operational, compliance, and technology-related processes. The team member will identify control weaknesses, warning signs, and process inefficiencies, perform root-cause analysis, and assess the level of risk exposure.
The role further includes writing audit observations, assigning risk ratings, and preparing reports with practical recommendations that clearly define ownership and timelines. Support is also needed for management presentations and updates for the Audit Committee.
Another part of the job is tracking audit action items, verifying closure of findings, ensuring recommendations are implemented on time, and escalating repeated issues or delays when necessary.
The position also contributes to value creation by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, automation, and standardization, while estimating financial impact such as loss prevention and revenue enhancement. Strong stakeholder engagement is required to work with process owners and leadership, influence timely issue resolution, and serve as a dependable advisor on risk and control matters.
The role makes use of data analytics and automation in audits, supports digital tool adoption and continuous monitoring, and provides assurance related to IT, digital, and cyber risk areas. It also includes special assignments such as fraud reviews, investigation support, analysis of control failures, special reviews, and coordination with external internal auditors when needed.
Desired profile
The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of business processes, risk, controls, and governance. Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle, along with data analytics, is important for the role.
Excellent analytical ability, communication skills, and stakeholder management capability are essential. The candidate should demonstrate high integrity, independence, sound professional judgment, and the ability to manage audits independently from start to finish. Strong problem-solving skills, risk identification ability, effective communication with senior management, and a proactive, learning-focused approach with an orientation toward value creation are also expected.
