Role Overview
This role is focused on driving business excellence initiatives at site level. The selected professional will shape the strategy, improve operational performance, support cross-functional improvement projects, and strengthen a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Create, execute, and continuously refine the business excellence roadmap so it supports organisational objectives and contract commitments.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve operating efficiency, lower costs, and strengthen service metrics such as collection schedule compliance, resource utilisation, and reliability.
- Define, track, and present KPIs and operational measures, using data analysis to support decisions and ongoing improvement.
- Manage the implementation and upkeep of integrated management systems relevant to the business.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset by applying structured problem-solving and Lean methods to identify, prioritise, and deliver high-impact improvements across functions such as route optimisation, material recovery, and landfill operations.
- Design and conduct training sessions on business excellence tools and methods, including Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis, for both employees and managers.
- Drive full employee participation in business excellence activities at the site.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, or Civil), Business Administration, Operations Management, or a similar discipline. A Master’s degree or MBA will be considered an advantage.
Preferred experience is 3 to 5 years in a business excellence function.
Methodology Expertise
Certification in, or strong practical exposure to, continuous improvement approaches such as Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt, Kaizen, and SQC tools is expected. Familiarity with MSW operations will be an added benefit.
Core Competencies
The role calls for strong analytical ability, excellent problem-solving skills, and comfort with statistical analysis and data visualisation tools. It also requires solid project management capability, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead change, train teams, and influence stakeholders across levels.
