Role Overview
PayerMax is hiring a senior business development leader in Singapore to drive market growth, build merchant partnerships, and guide a team responsible for expansion across new markets and industries. This position focuses on cross-border payment opportunities, strategic account development, and full-cycle partnership execution.
What You Will Do
- Shape market entry and growth plans in line with the company’s overall business strategy, including acquisition priorities, target segments, and rollout plans.
- Lead initiatives aimed at merchants, particularly for cross-border payment partnerships, and create tailored payment solutions that match each merchant’s operating model and needs.
- Manage the entire delivery of payment-related business initiatives, track market movements and competitor actions, and update expansion plans as conditions change.
- Identify fresh sales channels and commercial opportunities to widen business reach.
- Own both individual and team performance outcomes, translate goals into action plans, and drive the team toward company-wide targets.
- Guide partnership projects from early-stage discussions and solution design through negotiation, closure, and implementation.
- Stay closely involved in critical projects, remove execution blockers, and ensure that planned business value is delivered smoothly.
- Build and maintain durable relationships with merchants through regular follow-ups, requirement gathering, and ongoing solution improvements.
- Address client feedback, issues, and disputes in a timely and professional manner while protecting the company’s reputation.
- Oversee day-to-day team operations by defining responsibilities, setting workflows, and establishing performance expectations.
- Support team capability building through coaching, development plans, knowledge sharing, and training.
- Create a performance-focused and collaborative team environment that encourages initiative, learning, and business ownership.
- Conduct market research and prepare analysis on policy changes, market trends, industry data, and customer requirements to inform business decisions.
- Work with Product, Technology, Operations, and Risk Control teams, while also leveraging external networks and resources to support growth and project delivery.
- Spot process gaps, assess root causes, and recommend practical improvements to partnership and business workflows.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree or higher, along with the ability to learn complex industry concepts, business models, and product details quickly.
- At least 15 years of experience in business development or sales, including 5 or more years leading teams; experience in payments is strongly preferred.
- Strong English proficiency for cross-border communication, documentation, and day-to-day working use.
- Excellent business development judgment, structured thinking, and clear communication skills to uncover customer needs and close partnerships.
- Strong market expansion instincts and negotiation ability, with the confidence to manage partnership projects independently end to end.
- Ability to work well across functions, anticipate challenges, and solve problems effectively.
- Highly self-driven and results-focused, with strong planning and self-management skills.
