Job description

Role overview

This is a field-led new business position focused on finding, engaging, and converting mostly industrial SME customers within an assigned territory. The role is centred on helping customers work more safely, efficiently, and responsibly while building a strong pipeline of new business.

You will spend most of your time in the field, working warm leads, prospecting proactively, holding structured customer meetings, and moving opportunities through a defined sales journey from initial contact to close. Strong performance in this role relies on disciplined prospecting, a structured sales approach, and the ability to communicate technical and value-based solutions clearly.

You will also work closely in person with branch and support teams to maintain clear communication, coordinated working, and a consistently high level of customer service.

Your objective is to generate consistent new-customer wins, represent the company professionally, and contribute to a safer and cleaner planet while giving customers confidence and peace of mind.

About the company

Safetykleen is a global leader with more than 50 years of experience and operations across 15 countries. The business supports organisations in keeping critical operations safer and cleaner through parts-cleaning solutions that can help reduce energy use and support more responsible environmental performance.

The culture is built around respect and working together to win. The company emphasises that ideas are valued, and that branch teams are central to how the business delivers on its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Turn qualified appointments and warm leads into new customers through confident, professional selling.
  • Generate opportunities through outbound calls, networking, and proactive site visits.
  • Run the full structured sales process, including first meetings, site assessments, surveys, demonstrations, proposals, and business cases.
  • Identify opportunities linked to cleaning, safety, compliance, and overall customer value.
  • Move prospects forward quickly and methodically, keeping clear next steps from first contact through to close.
  • Plan and manage daily field activity to maintain momentum and maximise productivity across the territory.
  • Use AI and CRM tools to prioritise and qualify leads, improve field efficiency, manage objections, and maintain accurate pipeline records.
  • Maintain CRM hygiene to support visibility of the pipeline and deliver a smooth customer experience.
  • Build strong in-person relationships with branch and support teams to ensure joined-up service delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in new business development, ideally in a field-based B2B environment.
  • Experience managing a territory and consistently delivering against targets.
  • Ability to create pipeline through disciplined prospecting and effective qualification.
  • Comfort running the complete sales cycle from first appointment to close.
  • Experience working in industrial or technical environments, with the credibility to engage confidently with such customers.
  • Strong use of CRM systems and modern sales tools to manage activity, prioritise work, and forecast accurately.
  • Resilient, energetic, self-managing, and professionally representative at every customer touchpoint.
  • Full UK driving licence, which is essential for the role.

Package and benefits

  • Uncapped commission structure with on-target earnings of £70,000 to £100,000 per year.
  • Base salary of £35,000.
  • Car allowance of £5,200 per year.
  • 25 days of holiday plus UK bank holidays.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • Private healthcare, depending on role and country.
  • Life assurance at 3 times salary.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 confidential support.
  • Access to wellbeing and gym discounts, where applicable.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Ongoing training and development, with career growth opportunities across the business.
