Role overview

This position is for a Business Development Manager focused on HMI/SCADA for the Midstream Pipeline segment in the Middle East. The role is centered on helping regional sales teams identify, shape, and win new opportunities across the pipeline software portfolio.

Location is listed as Dubai, UAE or Saudi Arabia, with the job also referencing Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia.

Employment is full time.

Key responsibilities

  • Expand the HMI/SCADA business across areas such as SCADA, gas measurement, liquids pipeline operations, and pipeline simulation.
  • Bring pipeline industry knowledge to support sales in finding, qualifying, and closing new opportunities.
  • Present AVEVA as a trusted partner for pipeline operations, process improvement, and digital transformation.
  • Help grow the pipeline sales pipeline through Salesforce and improve the quality of opportunities.
  • Support deal progression, strengthen win rates, and assist with closing pipeline-related business.
  • Deepen strategic relationships and account penetration with pipeline operators.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of pipeline environments and can connect technical solutions to business outcomes. Experience should include working with control rooms, field teams, and engineering groups, along with familiarity in solution-selling and executive-level conversations.

  • Understanding of gas transmission and distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of liquids, crude, and refined product pipeline operations.
  • Exposure to compressor and pump station operations.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and pipeline monitoring/control.
  • Familiarity with gas measurement, custody transfer, metering, and compliance.
  • Experience with liquids pipeline activities such as batch tracking, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Awareness of pipeline simulation concepts including transient models, leak detection, operator training, digital twins, and optimization.
  • Strong market awareness and understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to describe customer pain points, commercial value, and technical differentiation clearly.
  • Strong consultative and value-based selling approach.
  • Self-motivated, organized, collaborative, and focused on growing pipeline business.
  • Experience translating operational challenges into measurable commercial impact.
  • Background in business development, sales, or account management in industrial software or energy is preferred.
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience selling to senior decision-makers and using enterprise systems and commercial processes.
  • Degree in engineering, business, or a related field is preferred.
