Job description
About the Role
CDC Global Solutions partners with a leading integrated drug discovery CRO established in Europe 15 years ago, which is now expanding its commercial reach in the US and DACH region. The company is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and grow the market presence in the German-speaking DACH territory. This is an active hunter role focused on acquiring new integrated drug discovery partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
Key Duties
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities focusing on small molecule drug discovery within the DACH area, particularly German-speaking markets.
- Perform prospecting, cold calls, and networking to initiate discussions on target validation, hit-to-lead, and lead optimisation with emerging and established biotechnology firms.
- Represent the company at major industry conferences and partnership events to expand market visibility and connections.
- Collaborate closely with scientific leaders and project management teams across Europe to design proposals aligned with client needs and secure signed contracts.
- Manage the entire sales process from generating leads to closing deals successfully.
- Provide regular reports on business pipeline status, sales forecasts, and market insights to senior management.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of five years’ experience in business development within a small molecule CRO or CDMO environment.
- Strong network and established relationships within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors across the DACH region.
- Proven hunter mentality with demonstrated success in generating and closing new business, not merely managing existing accounts.
- Preferred qualification includes a degree in chemistry or related discipline.
- Ability to operate effectively with a European headquarters and time zone and confidently promote a science-driven and reputation-conscious CRO in a competitive market.
