Role Overview
Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive and expand Moet Hennessy's business in the Charleston/Coastal area. This role focuses on building strong account relationships, leading growth initiatives, and delivering results across revenue, margin, and gross profit goals.
As part of a family-owned distributor with a long history and a strong workplace culture, the position offers the chance to contribute to beverage distribution growth while working with supportive teams, modern tools, and ongoing learning opportunities.
What You'll Do
- Own performance against revenue, margin, and gross profit targets assigned by the Sales Director.
- Assess the impact of local program spend and help measure return on investment for priority initiatives.
- Deliver category goals and key performance indicators through effective strategy and customer management that supports long-term growth.
- Drive faster growth for Moet Hennessy brands than the assigned category within designated accounts.
- Maintain consistent visits to the assigned account base.
- Work closely with the sales consultant and area manager to share information on programs, tools, and execution within accounts.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with key accounts over time.
- Track market trends across products, regions, and accounts to become the category specialist within the territory.
- Recommend shelf placement and menu placement opportunities to customers.
- Train customer staff on the focus category and brands.
- Plan, coordinate, and attend promotional activities such as launches, tastings, and dinners.
- Support account-level activation and coordinate execution with the agency.
- Complete market surveys to capture execution details.
- Monitor KPIs including PODS, menus, features, displays, shelf ads, education, trade engagement, staff training, events, and digital engagement.
- Share recaps highlighting market opportunities and wins.
- Partner with CPWS Trade Development and Moet Hennessy supplier teams to adapt tools for programming, activation, education, and execution.
- Handle other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the industry.
- A dependable vehicle, valid driver's license, state registration, insurance proof, and a clean driving record are required.
- Ability to manage and stay within an assigned budget.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills.
- Good financial understanding and business judgment.
- Ability to study data, identify risks, and develop practical solutions ahead of time.
- Strong communication, organization, and commercial planning abilities.
- Comfort using Compass, Diver, Excel, and Proof.
- Ability to understand supplier strategies and work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage several projects while meeting time and budget expectations.
- Working knowledge of finance and accounting concepts.
- Proven ability to strengthen relationships with suppliers and buyers across the geographic region.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and quantitative skills.
- Excellent planning and organization for a fast-moving, multi-priority environment.
- Strong customer service skills with internal teams, vendors, suppliers, and other departments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, including collaboration across functions and sometimes virtually.
Work Conditions
- The job requires substantial time sitting and using a computer or mobile device for typing, keyboarding, mouse work, and screen use.
- At times, the role may also involve walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
- The workweek often goes beyond 40 hours and may include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
- Occasional lifting, lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling of up to 40 lbs may be required.
