About the Role
This position is based in Toronto at the Planning, Reporting & Compliance department and seeks to fill a current opening. The Business & Data Analyst will deliver advanced data analytics, validation, and visualization support for Finance-led special projects. The role centers on converting clinical, operational, and financial data into concise, actionable insights to aid executive-level decision-making, strategic planning, and operational enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate and structure complex clinical, operational, and financial datasets obtained from diverse systems.
- Lead efforts in data quality evaluation, validation, and reconciliation to guarantee trustworthy inputs for executive reports.
- Conduct independent data analyses to detect trends, drivers, and identify cost, performance, and operational improvement opportunities.
- Create dashboards and visual representations (such as Power BI) and communicate findings clearly to executive audiences with actionable recommendations.
- Support high-priority initiatives such as cost savings and process improvements through focused data analyses.
- Identify and implement data flow automation, standardization, and enhancements to reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with Finance, Laboratory Operations, and Digital & Data teams to establish requirements and deliver aligned insights.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to handle complex and ambiguous datasets.
- Capability to interpret clinical and operational data into meaningful financial and strategic insights.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings to both technical and non-technical executive stakeholders.
- Meticulous attention to data integrity and detail.
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills for technical guidance and liaison with various internal and external parties.
- Proficient written communication for preparing analysis-related commentary, presentations, training materials, and procedural documentation.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Finance, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of data analysis experience, preferably in healthcare, public sector, or complex operational contexts.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel including data manipulation, Power Query, and data modeling.
- Experience with Power BI or similar visualization platforms is advantageous.
- Familiarity with SQL is considered beneficial.
Attributes and Competencies
- Ability to work autonomously in structuring analyses, validating data, and generating insights that support organizational decisions.
- Sound judgment in interpreting data, spotting risks and issues, and recommending actionable solutions to aid Finance and operational leadership.
Additional Information
- Position type: Permanent; full-time at 36.25 hours per week.
- Compensation: Hourly range from $47.93 to $59.26, under Ontario Public Service Employees Union.
