Business Data Analyst (Automation & Business Insights) – Trust and Safety

About the Role

As a Business Data Analyst on the Automation & Business Insights team within Trust & Safety, you will focus on developing operational metrics, creating robust and scalable data infrastructure, and delivering strategic insights through performance reporting. Working closely with global moderation operations, your efforts will help ensure that TikTok maintains quality, efficiency, and sustainability in its content moderation practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, refine, and implement the systems for core operational metrics and attribution, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational demands.
• Collaborate with Data Science and Data Warehouse teams to manage data infrastructure lifecycles—from optimizing datasets to developing and maintaining dashboards.
• Enhance and expand automated data reporting solutions that drive business initiatives forward.
• Produce and present detailed operational performance reports, delivering timely and actionable insights to improve processes.
• Conduct thorough cross-line-of-business analyses and translate complex data into strategic recommendations for operational decisions.
• Respond to urgent business needs by preparing ad-hoc analytical reports and crafting presentations that communicate insights clearly.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in Data Analysis, Business Analysis, or Business Intelligence, backed by a record of generating insights that enhance operations.
• Advanced skills in metric system creation, attribution analysis, and anomaly identification—capable of turning technical data concepts into actionable business strategies.
• Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI; strong knowledge of SQL, Excel, and advanced statistical methods; proficiency in Python is advantageous.
• Strong business sense and the ability to uncover hidden operational issues through data, offering effective improvement strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with content moderation, call center, or customer service operations, especially in Trust & Safety domains, is highly valued.
• Exceptional skills in managing stakeholders and coordinating projects; ability to juggle competing demands, prioritize key tasks, and produce quality results amid rapid change.

This role often involves exposure to sensitive content, including material related to bullying, hate speech, self-harm, and child safety. Candidates should be aware that regular interaction with disturbing material may be required as part of Trust & Safety’s mission.
