Job description

About the role

The Electoral Commission of Queensland is seeking a flexible, capable and driven Business Analyst to support the operational delivery of electoral events. This role sits within the Digital Technologies unit and is part of a small team of Agile Product Owners and Business Analysts helping shape future digital capability for the organisation.

You will help ensure critical election systems remain aligned with business needs and continue to perform effectively. The position also supports the planning and delivery of projects tied to electoral events, and offers the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful and fast-moving environment.

The role requires someone who can work independently, think strategically when needed, and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Support CES users with operational assistance to enable election delivery, business-as-usual activity, and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain the CES Business Improvement Register and help prioritise enhancements within approved budgets.
  • Coordinate the business improvement program with ECQ stakeholders and CES suppliers to keep work moving efficiently and in line with agreed priorities and processes.
  • Handle CES change requests and concepts, submit them to the relevant approval board, and act as change manager for approved changes.
  • Assist with election delivery in line with project plans and manage selected election or business improvement projects.
  • Identify functional gaps, overlaps, and possible impacts of proposed changes that could affect the system’s suitability or strategic alignment.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with ECQ staff, service providers and external clients to support strong change management and service delivery.
  • Apply technical knowledge and system understanding to provide application support to CES users.
  • Review and interpret business requirements, then convert them into user stories for software development activities.
