Business Analyst – Regulatory Reporting & Transformation

Role overview

Bank of China (Canada) is hiring a detail-focused Business Analyst to support a regulatory reporting automation program within the Digital Transformation Office. This role is based in Markham, Ontario and runs for 9 months on a full-time basis. The position is centered on improving how regulatory reports are produced by strengthening automation, standardizing processes, and aligning reporting practices with OSFI expectations and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, interpret, and formalize business and regulatory needs for reporting automation work.
• Create and maintain business rules records and data mapping documents for regulatory reporting.
• Review financial data sources, reporting structures, and system functionality to support automation efforts.
• Contribute to the design, testing, and confirmation of automated regulatory reports.
• Carry out data checks and reconciliations to help ensure reporting is accurate and complete.
• Support user acceptance testing and work with stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Perform gap analysis and highlight process improvement opportunities.
• Build process maps and workflow documentation for reporting transformation initiatives.
• Serve as a bridge between business teams and IT when defining requirements and system enhancements.
• Assist with audit and regulatory review requests related to reporting automation.
• Prepare project documents and management reporting materials.
• Take part in additional digital transformation and automation work as assigned.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in banking or financial services.
• Background in regulatory reporting, financial data analysis, or banking transformation projects is preferred.
• Understanding of OSFI regulatory frameworks is considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Advanced Excel skills, with working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
• Hands-on experience with data mapping, reconciliation, and formal documentation practices.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a cross-functional setting.
• Mandarin proficiency in speaking and writing is an asset.
