Role overview
Bank of China (Canada) is hiring a detail-focused Business Analyst to support a regulatory reporting automation program within the Digital Transformation Office. This role is based in Markham, Ontario and runs for 9 months on a full-time basis. The position is centered on improving how regulatory reports are produced by strengthening automation, standardizing processes, and aligning reporting practices with OSFI expectations and internal controls.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, interpret, and formalize business and regulatory needs for reporting automation work.
- Create and maintain business rules records and data mapping documents for regulatory reporting.
- Review financial data sources, reporting structures, and system functionality to support automation efforts.
- Contribute to the design, testing, and confirmation of automated regulatory reports.
- Carry out data checks and reconciliations to help ensure reporting is accurate and complete.
- Support user acceptance testing and work with stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Perform gap analysis and highlight process improvement opportunities.
- Build process maps and workflow documentation for reporting transformation initiatives.
- Serve as a bridge between business teams and IT when defining requirements and system enhancements.
- Assist with audit and regulatory review requests related to reporting automation.
- Prepare project documents and management reporting materials.
- Take part in additional digital transformation and automation work as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in banking or financial services.
- Background in regulatory reporting, financial data analysis, or banking transformation projects is preferred.
- Understanding of OSFI regulatory frameworks is considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Advanced Excel skills, with working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
- Hands-on experience with data mapping, reconciliation, and formal documentation practices.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a cross-functional setting.
- Mandarin proficiency in speaking and writing is an asset.
