Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Business Analyst / Product Owner to join our consulting team in Carmel, IN, preferably adopting a hybrid work model. This role is pivotal in bridging business units, compliance groups, and engineering teams to ensure business needs are accurately translated into actionable user stories, facilitating efficient delivery of software projects within financial services and insurance sectors.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, Product Managers, compliance teams, and software developers to collect, analyze, and document business requirements.
• Convert both business and regulatory requirements into precise user stories complete with acceptance criteria.
• Manage and prioritize the product backlog in coordination with Product Management and key business stakeholders.
• Lead backlog grooming sessions, sprint planning, and clarify requirements continuously during development cycles.
• Guarantee readiness of requirements aligning with business objectives prior to sprint commencement.
• Engage closely with engineering teams through the full agile development process to address queries and clarify requirements.
• Use tools like Azure DevOps or Jira to track progress, maintain backlog integrity, and manage sprint priorities.
• Provide regular updates on project status, scope modifications, risk factors, and priorities to all stakeholders.
• Support User Acceptance Testing by verifying delivered features against business expectations and criteria.
• Prepare and upkeep functional documents, workflow diagrams, release notes, and stakeholder communications.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant and successful product delivery in regulated environments.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst within agile software teams.
• Proven ability to translate business and compliance needs into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
• Significant background in Financial Services; experience within the Insurance industry is highly preferred.
• Expertise in backlog management and prioritization alongside Product Management and stakeholders.
• Practical knowledge of Azure DevOps or Jira for agile backlog and sprint management.
• Strong communication skills to liaise effectively across technical and business representatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management capabilities encompassing business, product, compliance, and engineering groups.
• Experience supporting Agile methodologies in software development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in regulated or compliance-sensitive software sectors.
• Familiarity with insurance tracking tools such as Unitrac or similar financial service platforms.
• Background in supporting distributed or contract software engineering teams.
• Experience assisting with User Acceptance Testing, release strategy, and product launches.
