Role Overview
Hubotx Labs is hiring a Business Analyst for its private equity function in Gurugram. The role focuses on evaluating opportunities, building robust financial models, supporting transaction work, and monitoring portfolio performance across sectors.
Core Responsibilities
The position involves end-to-end analytical support across investment evaluation, diligence, execution, and portfolio monitoring.
- Assess investment opportunities using financial, operational, and strategic analysis across different industries.
- Construct and continuously refine complex financial models, including three-statement models, DCF, LBO, merger, and valuation models.
- Review historical financial statements, budgets, projections, and operating KPIs to support investment decisions.
- Draft investment memorandums, financial summaries, and presentation materials for the Investment Committee.
- Assist with financial, commercial, operational, tax, legal, and ESG due diligence activities.
- Liaise with external advisors, consultants, auditors, and law firms during transaction execution.
- Examine diligence findings to flag risks, value drivers, and improvement opportunities.
- Help prepare diligence questionnaires and information request lists.
- Carry out market, industry, and competitor research to identify trends and attractive investment themes.
- Track macroeconomic indicators and regulatory changes that may influence investment outcomes.
- Benchmark target businesses against peer companies and relevant market standards.
- Build and update DCF, comparable company, precedent transaction, LBO, scenario, and sensitivity models.
- Evaluate return metrics such as IRR, MOIC, payback period, and potential value creation levers.
- Monitor portfolio company performance through monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Track KPIs, covenant compliance, and operational progress across portfolio investments.
- Support strategic initiatives and value creation projects within portfolio companies.
- Assist in deal sourcing, initial screening, and transaction execution through closing.
- Coordinate data room activity and review transaction-related documents.
- Prepare board materials and investment committee presentations.
- Create reports for senior leadership, investment committees, and investors.
- Present analysis and business recommendations clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with investment teams, finance teams, legal advisors, and portfolio company management.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- Professional qualifications such as an MBA in Finance, CFA Level II/III, CA, or an equivalent credential are preferred.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, management consulting, or Big Four deals advisory.
- Hands-on experience in financial modelling and valuation is essential.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel for advanced financial modelling.
- Solid understanding of DCF valuation, comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis, LBO modelling, and financial statement analysis.
- Strong presentation skills in PowerPoint for investor and management materials.
- Exposure to Bloomberg, Capital IQ, PitchBook, Refinitiv, or similar financial data platforms is an advantage.
- Good data analysis capability in Excel; familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python is beneficial.
