Job description
Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Business Analyst with strong experience in payments to lead key projects within a leading financial client. This contract role in Toronto requires strategic analysis and leadership to support international payments initiatives and cross-border transaction solutions as part of the Project Delivery, Modernization, and Enablement team.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders, technology groups, and other teams to evaluate current processes and design target system architectures and project roadmaps.
- Create comprehensive business requirement documentation, process flows, and use cases aligned with company strategies.
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities including presentations and workshops to ensure clarity and approval of deliverables.
- Design and implement test plans, facilitate user acceptance testing, and oversee change management efforts.
- Identify project risks proactively, monitor milestones, and ensure timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Maintain detailed project documentation such as project plans, issues tracking, risk assessments, action items, and decision logs.
- Coordinate collaboration across cross-functional teams and bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide active project leadership by addressing obstacles promptly and sustaining project progress.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst.
- Extensive experience (5+ years) using Jira for project tracking and management.
- At least 2 years working with payments systems and related processes.
- Strong skills in SQL and Power BI reporting, with at least 2 years of experience.
- Strong analytical capabilities working with data tables, reference data, and producing edge reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, along with interpersonal collaboration strengths.
- Experience in process design, reengineering, and thorough documentation of business requirements.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and effectively share insights.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders involved.
- Good understanding of full payment processing flows and customer journey mapping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the banking sector or financial institutions.
- Expertise with various payment rails (e.g., cards, wire transfers, Interac, cross-border payments).
- Familiarity with AI technologies and Data Bricks platforms.
