Role overview

This position is for a Business Analyst III focused on forecasting demand and shaping business planning for a portfolio of VR headsets and wearable products within Reality Labs. The role calls for strong experience in demand planning, business analytics, and sales planning, with the ability to turn data into forecasts and recommendations that guide production, launch timing, and go-to-market choices.

Work setup and duration

The role is remote within the United States, with a preference for candidates in the Pacific time zone. There is also a strong preference for someone who can work on site three days per week in Burlingame, California. The assignment runs for 12 months.

Compensation and benefits

The pay range is $30 to $32 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include medical coverage, a 401(k) plan, paid holidays, and additional offerings.

Core responsibilities

  • Develop and keep current bottom-up sell-through and sell-in demand forecasts for VR headsets and wearable hardware using both quantitative and qualitative inputs.
  • Work closely with sales account managers, category managers, marketing, channel operations, and data analysts to strengthen forecast accuracy and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Review sales results on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to spot patterns, risks, and opportunities across hardware and accessory lines.
  • Take ownership of actual-versus-forecast analysis by diagnosing drivers, suggesting corrective actions, and tracking the impact of forecast changes.
  • Communicate forecasting assumptions, business findings, and performance updates to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Create forecasting models from large datasets by identifying relationships, trends, and dependencies that improve planning precision.
  • Support production planning and product launch decisions through close coordination with channel operations and business teams.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and executive-ready presentations while handling ad hoc forecasting and analysis requests.

Internal expectations

  • Participate in recurring internal practice community meetings.
  • Contribute to thought leadership efforts with the itD practice team.
  • Support client case studies and learning content such as blogs and media materials.
  • Help build materials that strengthen the Digital Transformation practice.
  • Attend internal networking events, both in person and virtually.
  • Partner with leadership on career growth and fast-track opportunities.

Required experience and qualifications

  • At least 4 years of experience in hardware demand forecasting, planning, or forecasting analytics.
  • At least 6 years of experience in business strategy, business analytics, finance, sales planning, or a similar analytical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience creating demand forecasting models for consumer hardware products.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Google Workspace, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform quantitative analysis and convert findings into practical business recommendations.
  • Strong collaboration skills and confidence presenting to stakeholders across functions.
  • Capability to work independently on daily forecasting, reporting, and business analysis tasks.

Preferred background

  • Experience forecasting physical consumer goods or consumer electronics.
  • Familiarity with enterprise forecasting tools such as o9 or comparable planning platforms.
  • Prior work supporting AR/VR, consumer technology, or hardware-focused organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related area is preferred, though equivalent experience may be accepted.
