Business Analyst - Finance and Data

Job Summary

We are looking for an accomplished Functional Business Analyst with strong experience across data and finance. In this role, you will act as the link between business stakeholders and technical teams by eliciting, analysing, and documenting requirements for financial and data-driven systems.

What You Need to Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a closely related discipline.
• 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
• Solid knowledge of the banking or wider financial services domain.
• Practical exposure to data analytics and working with large financial datasets.
• Strong quantitative thinking, analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and process design capability, with the judgement to turn analysis into workable business solutions.
• Understanding of technology and operational workflows across different functions in banking or financial markets.
• Familiarity with change management practices and basic project management concepts.
• The ability to collaborate well in a team while also showing leadership to guide conversations and unblock issues.
• A strategic mindset with excellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
• Resilience, diligence, and comfort working in situations where requirements may not be fully defined.
• Experience assessing scope and evaluating factors such as scalability, maintainability, cost, operational impact, and risk to support sound recommendations.

Preferred Background

Experience in corporate banking or financial markets would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Review current and future-state business and operations processes against agreed requirements or function points, and evaluate the impact of proposed changes.
• Work closely with business unit specialists to gather, clarify, and validate business requirements.
• Partner with IT teams to make sure non-functional needs, including security considerations, are built into the solution.
• Define detailed functional and non-functional requirements based on business input.
• Track and manage risks and issues tied to requirements and scope.
• Produce key project artefacts such as data mapping specifications, data lineage documentation, the Business Requirements Document (BRD), and the Functional Specification Document.
• Hand over functional and non-functional requirements to system analysts, ensuring they have a complete and accurate understanding.
• Prepare business-facing release notes and support deployment planning.
• Coordinate with the Test Manager to convert business requirements into test scenarios.
• Carry out impact analysis and effort estimation for projects and change requests.
• Control scope growth and manage change requests effectively.
