Role overview
This contract Business Analyst opportunity is based onsite in Calgary, Alberta. The client is seeking someone with solid Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience who can support business analysis, backlog refinement, QA, and UAT activities while partnering closely with business, development, and quality assurance teams.
Core business analysis work
- Collect, interpret, and translate business needs into clearly written PBIs in Azure DevOps.
- Draft precise acceptance criteria for each backlog item.
- Contribute to backlog grooming, sprint planning, and requirement review sessions.
- Maintain traceability from PBIs through design and testing deliverables.
- Help shape functional design conversations and answer requirement-related questions for development and QA.
Dynamics 365 responsibilities
- Work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Dataverse entities, forms, and workflows.
- Review system configuration and confirm it fits the stated business needs.
- Support checks and validation of solution design within the Dynamics environment.
- Coordinate with integration teams, including GIS and other external systems where relevant.
Testing, QA, and UAT
- Build and update test cases that map back to PBIs and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare test scenarios and suitable test data for functional and regression testing.
- Run QA and UAT test cases and record outcomes.
- Raise, track, and manage defects in Azure DevOps.
- Take part in defect review, re-testing, and validation cycles.
- Confirm that testing coverage matches the defined PBIs and acceptance criteria.
UAT and delivery support
- Assist with UAT planning, execution, and coordination with business stakeholders.
- Create training aids, quick reference guides, and related documentation.
- Help verify go-live readiness and perform launch validation.
- Provide support after go-live and help resolve issues as needed.
Experience and skills
The ideal candidate should bring strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE / Dataverse and practical knowledge of Azure DevOps for backlog items, test management, and defect tracking. Experience writing PBIs, acceptance criteria, and test cases is essential, along with proven QA/UAT execution ability. A strong grasp of Agile/Scrum practices, clear communication, and stakeholder coordination skills are also important.
Preferred background
Additional value will be given to candidates who have worked with GIS-integrated systems, data migration and validation work, or dual-function BA and QA assignments.
