Business Analyst

Overview

BLACKROC Recruitment is looking for a practical, delivery-oriented Business Analyst to join a large Queensland organisation’s application delivery team. This 12-month contract is based in Brisbane with a hybrid working arrangement, and there is potential for an extension. The role is suited to someone who enjoys working side by side with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and developers to turn ideas into workable solutions across the full delivery cycle.

The position spans process review, requirements definition, testing, release support, and ongoing improvement within an Agile environment. It is best suited to a BA who is currently working in hands-on application delivery rather than a purely advisory capacity.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead workshops and collaborate with stakeholders to clarify and refine business needs.
• Review, analyse, and document business processes and workflows.
• Write user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
• Work closely with developers and subject matter experts to deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Carry out testing activities, manage defects, and support release validation.
• Keep Jira and Confluence documentation current and assist with sprint planning.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as planning sessions, daily stand-ups, showcases, and retrospectives.
• Help support releases that run on a two-week sprint cadence.
• Contribute to digital transformation and broader business improvement work.

About You

You are a hands-on Business Analyst with recent experience in application development or digital product delivery. You’re comfortable working closely with end users and technical teams and are focused on delivering practical outcomes.

Additional Information

This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. The role is based in Brisbane and follows a hybrid work model. It is intended for professionals currently operating in application delivery environments.

Preferred Background

Experience in insurance, claims, personal injury, workers compensation, or scheme-based environments would be advantageous. Familiarity with Appian or similar workflow and low-code platforms is also highly regarded.
