Role Overview

DCE is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst for its Melbourne delivery team. The role is centred on defining business needs, making sure solutions align with stakeholder expectations, and helping releases reach a high quality standard. You will partner with clients, product teams, project managers, and developers to convert requirements into functional specifications and verify delivered outcomes against acceptance criteria through structured testing and quality checks. This position suits someone who enjoys business analysis and contributing to successful software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and record business and functional needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to uncover requirements.
  • Convert business objectives into user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Capture workflows, system interactions, and data needs in clear documentation.
  • Help maintain end-to-end requirement traceability throughout delivery.
  • Assist with backlog refinement and sprint planning in Agile teams.
  • Review release notes for completeness and accuracy.
  • Carry out pre-release checks before handover to stakeholders or clients for testing.
  • Verify that delivered functionality matches the documented requirements.
  • Support preparation of release packs for production deployment.
  • Work closely with product owners, developers, and project managers to resolve requirement queries.
  • Provide ongoing clarification during development cycles.
  • Take part in sprint reviews, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Help maintain effective communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Produce and maintain documentation such as solution design documents, user stories, and process diagrams.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in business analysis practices.
  • Support strong standards in requirements management, testing, and release quality.

Skills and Competencies

The role calls for strong business analysis and requirements elicitation skills, the ability to create clear technical documentation and process diagrams, sound analytical thinking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams. Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools is an advantage.

Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, experience in Agile delivery environments, demonstrated capability in writing functional requirements and documentation, and experience on software product or system implementation projects.
