One Acre Fund, established in 2006, supports 5.5 million smallholder farmers with the inputs, training, credit, and services they need to improve farm productivity. The organization operates across nine African countries and is backed by a team of more than 9,000 full-time staff from many professional backgrounds.

In Burundi, the program has operated since 2011 under the local name Tubura. It is staffed by 1,662 team members who support nearly 400,000 farmers. The Burundi office network includes a headquarters in Muramvya, regional offices in Gitega and Ngozi, and a support office in Bujumbura, with operations concentrated in Muramvya, Gitega, Ngozi, Kayanza, and Mwaro.

Role Overview

This position calls for a senior logistics and inventory professional to strengthen warehouse systems, expand operational controls, and reduce risk across national operations. The role is focused on building reliable inventory processes, improving warehouse performance, and supporting organizational growth through strong execution and oversight.

Inventory Management and Controls

• Direct inventory storage, handling, and control procedures across all warehouses in the country.
• Make sure each warehouse is properly supplied, equipped, and aligned with operational and safety requirements.
• Track and enforce 5S standards in all warehouse locations, using 5S performance as a key measure.
• Watch product condition closely and lead corrective action when quality issues arise.
• Ensure monthly inventory reconciliations are completed accurately and on time for every site.
• Investigate the underlying causes of stock differences, losses, and process breakdowns.
• Confirm that corrective measures from root cause analysis are completed within one month to avoid repeat issues.

Product Lifecycle and After-Sales Support

• Manage the intake, testing, and resolution of defective items across storage locations within agreed service timelines.
• Create and improve warranty and after-sales workflows that strengthen customer and farmer experience while keeping supply chain complexity low, in line with organizational standards.
• Keep complete and accurate records of claims and their resolutions.
• Lead recovery and reconditioning work for damaged or returned goods, including coordination with outside partners where needed.
• Supervise the disposal and destruction of unusable stock in coordination with GSC and GR.

Technical Leadership, Coaching, and Capacity Building

• Act as the lead technical authority for inventory control, warehouse governance, and reconciliation practices.
• Coach Warehouse Managers, Senior Coordinators, and Specialists to improve execution quality and consistency.
• Build and refine performance management systems, SOPs, and warehouse tools on an ongoing basis.
• Support teams in solving difficult operational issues, especially those with high risk or impact across multiple warehouses.
• Contribute to workforce planning and organizational design for warehouse and inventory teams as the program grows.
• Oversee the data team and Warehouses Senior Coordinators (JL5-JL7), as well as indirect reports at JL3-JL4 level.

Reporting, Monitoring, and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Create and maintain systems that track logistics and warehouse performance indicators.
• Prepare regular management updates covering results, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Work closely with Finance, Internal Audit, GSC, and TECH teams to improve data quality, internal controls, and standards compliance.
• Follow up promptly on audit observations and inventory-related risk reduction actions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with inventory systems and warehouse tools such as SAP, WMS, and relevant data analysis tools. You should be comfortable identifying root causes, putting corrective measures in place, and managing reconciliation and reporting processes. The role also requires strong people leadership, the ability to supervise diverse teams, and excellent organization, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
