Role Summary

The position involves conducting comprehensive audits of food manufacturing and processing facilities to verify adherence to BRCGS Food Issue 9 standards. Candidates should possess a profound understanding of food safety principles, quality management systems, and operational effectiveness in the food industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute detailed audits assessing compliance with BRCGS Food Issue 9 across food production sites.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of food safety and quality management frameworks, including HACCP plans.
  • Examine legal compliance, traceability, and quality documentation.
  • Compile thorough audit reports capturing findings, observations, non-conformities, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform follow-up audits to confirm corrective actions' implementation and effectiveness.
  • Plan and maintain audit schedules addressing BRCGS compliance timelines.
  • Partner with facility teams to advance understanding and application of BRCGS requirements.
  • Offer training and guidance on food safety best practices and compliance standards.
  • Stay informed on food safety regulations, industry developments, and audit methodologies.
  • Suggest enhancements to audit tools and processes for increased audit efficiency and precision.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in food science or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in food safety auditing or quality assurance roles.
  • Minimum six months of hands-on industry experience involving quality or technical responsibilities.
  • At least six months of consultancy experience focusing on quality and technical advisory.
  • Completed a minimum of five relevant audits or accumulated at least ten man-days in the relevant category.
  • HACCP training based on Codex standards of at least two days.
  • Completion of an accredited Management System Lead Assessor course (such as IRCA) or BRC-approved Third Party Auditor course; SQF and IFS lead auditor certifications are also acceptable.
  • Successful completion of a written GFSI examination is mandatory.
  • Completion of BRC Issue 9 comprehension training and e-learning modules for protocol/report writing with exams, or prior completion of BRC Issue 8 auditor courses and evaluations.
  • Experience conducting internal audits, and second or third-party audits under GFSI-recognized schemes, including a substantial number (over 10) of relevant third-party audits over the past two years covering HACCP, Quality Management Systems, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Strong command of BRCGS, FSSC standards, and relevant food safety legislation.
  • Excellent analytical aptitude with great attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
