The company is focused on building scalable finance operations for high-growth clients and also places strong emphasis on the development of women in finance. The successful hire will have the opportunity to learn from experienced female finance leaders while contributing meaningfully to several businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle several client files at once while meeting overlapping deadlines.
  • Complete monthly bank and corporate credit card reconciliations.
  • Track prepaid expenses, compute amortization, and post the related journal entries each month.
  • Maintain fixed asset continuity records and record monthly asset amortization.
  • Run payroll for each pay cycle and process the associated entries.
  • Make sure payroll submissions such as T4s are prepared correctly and filed on time.
  • Verify that vendor invoices are fully and accurately entered into the accounting system before each pay run, using automation where possible.
  • Prepare bi-weekly accounts payable payments.
  • Examine and process employee expense claims, making use of automation tools.
  • Prepare and submit Canadian sales tax returns.
  • Respond to supplier and employee questions related to accounts payable when needed.
  • Answer employee payroll-related queries as required.
  • Produce monthly management reports and banking reports when requested.
  • Assist with year-end accounting tasks.
  • Support audit work by gathering requested documents, providing backup files, and answering audit questions.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of bookkeeping experience is required.
  • A university degree is required.
  • Membership with ICAG is required.
  • Strong Excel capability is essential.
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail are important.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are needed.
  • Willingness to learn and be coached is expected.
  • Ability to work a shift that overlaps with the client’s time zone, such as Eastern Standard Time, is necessary.
  • Previous bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks Online or Xero will be considered an advantage.

Additional Information

This role is intended for candidates who can work closely with a mentoring team and contribute in a detail-focused environment. The position also involves coordination across payroll, accounts payable, reconciliations, tax filings, reporting, and audit support.
